Working the night shift is no easy feat! If you’re looking to make a friend or family member that toughs out working the night shift feel special, we’ve got you covered! We’ve got a great list of items that your person will not only enjoy, but they will greatly appreciate! From weighted blankets to sleep masks, this gift guide will eliminate any guess work when it comes to gifting a night shifter. Let’s jump straight into it!

1. Blue Light Blocking Glasses (Swanwick)

Chances are if someone works the night shift, they have issues with sleeping. These Night Swannies are revolutionary! They are glasses that are equipped with orange lenses that block blue light rays. So, they can play on their phone before sleeping and still rest soundly! A pair of these can be a monumental change in their sleep habits. Trust me, you won’t regret this purchase!

Swanwick also have a less severe-looking option which is ideal when looking at a screen. These glasses don’t block as much blue light so therefore won’t put you asleep (but will eliminate the eye strain and headaches). We are true fans! Here is a video we made comparing the different glasses types if you’d like to learn more.

2. Manta Sleep Eye Mask

We will always recommend Manta Sleep Eye Masks for our fellow night shifters. When they said 100% blackout, they mean it! Trust me, whoever you are gifting these to will be forever grateful.

Plus, the design doesn’t add any eye pressure – allowing for true comfortability. Sleep will not be the same once you’ve provided them with a Manta Sleep Mask!

3. Snibb Shoes

I have found the perfect pair of sneakers/runners/tennis shoes – whatever word you use to describe them, and I think you should get some too. They feel so comfortable even from the first wear which is something I haven’t experienced very often.

They have been produced by people who spend hours upon hours on their feet so they know what we are feeling and have addressed our pain points nicely.

We did an entire review on Snibb shoes if you’re keen to learn why I like these shoes so much and why they differ from the other pairs in my wardrobe.

I have a few different colors (white, pink and black). The black is more so for work whilst the others are perfect for casual use or the gym. Highly recommend these shoes!

4. BonoSleep by BonoWellness

I don’t know if it’s just me, but as a night shift worker, I am always looking for new ways to improve my sleep during the day. This includes anything from white noise, smelly things and caffeine-free foods but now also includes a nifty device from Bonosleep. This little sleep aid sends an electrical current through your hand which puts you into a trance to sleep. It’s strange yes, but also very effective.

I did a review on this little product as it was new to me which I will link to here. Though this may be a more unusual gift to buy, I think it makes for the perfect present!

5. CBD Products

If you’re not interested in CBD products, feel free to skip this one.

If you are open to giving it a try or know a shift worker who is, I recently found a company called Naturecan and I’m pretty impressed. This website sells a variety of CBD oil products, including capsules, gummies, softgels, balms, and edibles. The company also offers CBD vape liquids and creams. Naturecan emphasizes that all of their products are derived from natural, plant-based hemp and are free from THC.

We are currently trialing their balm and oils as chronic back pain is an issue in our household.

6. Cooling Weighted Blanket

It’s all about quality sleep when working the night shift. It’s super hard to come by, so purchasing someone a weighted blanket can be half of the battle – which is a big feat! This particular weighted blanket regulates temperature, making it near perfection! It’s basically a blanket that provides a continuous hug throughout the night. Talk about a cuddle partner!

7. Ear Plugs – Eargasm Squishes

The hustle and bustle of the outside world has a habit of stealing sleep away from night shifters. Just because they’re sleeping, doesn’t mean everyone else around them is.

These Eargasm Squishes provide a barrier between them and distracting noises, allowing for a more peaceful sleep. You can never go wrong with getting anything that improves someones sleep quality!

8. Shakti Mats

Working the night shift causes a lot of stress on a body. Shakti Mats help alleviate some of that stress. There are a variety of mats you can choose from. It’ll help with pain relief, relaxation, and so much more! They’re not that expensive and are truly great products. Give your loved one the gift of relaxation.

Personally for us, after laying on this mat in bed, you end up concentrating so much on your back which is pulsating, you forget about all the thoughts in your head.

9. Melatonin

These supplements can be a lifesaver for a night shifter. Melatonin is a natural sleep chemical in our brains and this supplement helps kick start it! If they work night shift, they more than likely find it difficult to fall asleep, because their brain isn’t wired to sleep during the day time. Melatonin is inexpensive and would go beautifully in a care package!

10. Blackout Curtains

Listen, sleep is their best friend. At the end of their shift, the last thing they want to see when shutting their eyes is the sun. It’s dreadful and makes for terrible sleep quality. Blackout Curtains are a great way to block out the sun from peering through the blinds! Some can be expensive, but the inexpensive one work just as well. It just depends on what you’re willing to spend!

11. Electric Lunch Box

If you really want to please them, you’ll get them one of these bad boys! As a night shifter, options are limited when it comes to ordering food. Therefore, they’re most likely meal-prepping or bringing leftovers. So, they’re going to have to heat their food up eventually. This gives them the option to bring food to be heated, rather than just relying on cold meals – something that can get boring pretty quickly.

12. Air Purifier

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with an air purifier. There are so many to choose from! Some are more expensive than others, but we’ve linked one that shouldn’t break the bank! An air purifier can cleanse the air, and improve their sleep, and their overall quality of life! In the long run, you’ll get your thanks.

13. Dr Scholl’s Spa Socks

Night shifters don’t typically have the luxury of going to the spa for a little TLC on their feet. That’s why I recommend these super comfortable socks, especially when slept in. They are made of polyester and spandex, so they’re not too tight to wear. The material is packed with vitamin e and lavender, allowing for some much-needed moisturizing – especially if they’ve been on their feet all day!

14. SwissGear Hybrid Backpack

For some reason, night shifters feel the need to bring half of their belongings with them to a shift. Mainly because they never know what type of night they’re going to have. Gifting someone a backpack gives them something to carry everything in and keep goodies in the one place! Any SwissGear products are amazing because they are very durable, but any backpack will do!

If you’re looking for a similar bag with a USB port, this one will make the perfect gift!

15. Too Tired to Cook Book

If you’re considering buying this book as a gift, consider buying two – treat yourself with one too! Written by Audra Starkey, the book is a guide to staying healthy while participating in shift work. From minimizing weight fluctuations to dealing with stress and anxiety, this book covers it all! It’ll give the person you’re gifting something to read and learn from!

16. Insulated BEAST Tumbler

Keep them hydrated! I promise you, they’ll use this more than anything. I’m sure at some point during the night, they’ll get parched and reach for their drink. When they do, depending on what they’re drinking, it’ll still be the same temperature! Drinks stay cold for 24 hours and those meant to be drunk hot remain that way for up to six hours. Plus, you can get one in their favorite color!

17. Human Tonik (Green and Red Juice)

Working the night shift means running the risk of health issues. As a night shifter, their body is simply working against its normal rhythm, which throws everything out of sorts. Or they simply don’t have enough time or energy to care for themselves in that way.

With a scoop of SuperGreen Tonik and some water, they’ll have their needed daily nutrients. They will be amazed at the added zing this item provides them!

18. Chuchik Fidget Cube

If you’re looking for something inexpensive, this can be your go-to! Working the night shift comes with added stress and this little gadget assists in reducing that. It is palm-sized, so they can literally fidget with it at any time. The purpose is to reduce stress and increase concentration. It’s something small, but something that they’ll surely rave over!

19. Clip Glow Light

This is a great one! We swear by the Clip Glow Light. As a night shifter, even when not working, chances are they’re going to be up during the night time. The Clip Glow allows them the right amount of light without having to turn on harsh over head lights.

A number of night shift workers are in areas with dim light, so being able to give it a little boost would go a long way!

Check out our review below.

20. Hydrating Face Masks

The bad thing about night shift is that… it’s during the night! That means the chance of getting sunlight is pretty slim, unless you wake up super early – which, who wants to do that? Lack of vitamin D has been proven to dry skin! That’s why purchasing this item for someone who works night shift can be a lifesaver. It’ll make them feel better about themselves and promotes positive health. They’re also a pretty inexpensive buy!

21. Magnesium Supplements

Magnesium Supplements are a great way to go if you’re curating a care/gift package for someone on the night shift. When someone works nights frequently, they are at high risk of health problems galore. From decreased heart health to sleep deprivation, magnesium supplements are a great way to combat these issues. Show your loved one how much you care about them by looking out for their health!

22. Philips Wake-up Light Alarm

Philips Wake-up Light Alarm really changes the game when it comes to clocks! They have been proven to assist with sleep and energy, both things night shifters lack. This alarm clock gives off a natural sunset light, allowing the user to choose the brightness. Whoever you’re purchasing this for will truly appreciate the gift of waking up refreshed!

21. Heating Pads

Heating pads are truly a gift, especially after a long night of work. They are a great way of easing body aches that keep people awake when trying to sleep. From back pain to neck pain, you can’t really go wrong with a good heating pad! It also just helps to relax. Night shifts are extra stressful and sometimes you just need a little warmth to help you soothe your way to a peaceful sleep!

22. Travel Silverware Kit

Working the night shift pretty much always means that you have to bring your own food. There are rarely any restaurants open when the time comes for a night shifter to have their lunch break. That’s why meal prepping is a night shifter’s best friend! Buying a travel silverware kit allows for the good silverware to stay at home!

Nobody wants to take their good forks and knives to work with the chances of it never returning. Gift your loved one with a few travel silverware kits! It may seem like a small gesture, but a small gesture can go a very long way.

23. FitBit

Fitbits can get a little pricey, but it’s an option for sure. For starters, it’s a great way for night shift workers to track their sleeping habits. Most versions allow the person wearing it to see how much they slept the night before and how much time was spent in each sleep cycle. It’s also a great way to track steps! It allows them to set goals for themselves and see the results along the way.

24. Door Hanger

This is fun, cute, and straight to the point! Don’t wake a night shifter, it’s like waking a bear! Working the night shift doesn’t mean being exempt from the world that carries on during a slumber. However, we’d like it to be that way. So, this do not disturb sign is a great gift for a night shifter – gift them with peace and quiet. Even though it’ll more than likely be ignored (the downfall of the night shift).

25. Silk Pillow Case

Sleeping during the day can be a tough task to accomplish! So why not make it that little bit easier and give them a silk pillowcase to lay their weary head. Silk is made of natural hypoallergenic fibres, making it more resistant to the accumulation of mould, dirt, and other allergens that could be playing a role in your skin problems. It is also healthy for your hair!

As you can tell, there are many gifts that you can pick from for your favorite night shifter! This list doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface, but it’s a fantastic start. They will be grateful to receive any of these items as a gift, as anyone who works the night shift can benefit from them.

Cheers,
